Retail Security Officers

Retail Security Officers are normally engaged in a wide range of retail locations such as shopping precincts, supermarkets, chain stores, department stores and individual single outlets where the range of merchandise for sale are extensive. All assignments are different and it is essential for the Retail Security Officer to have a clear understanding of the layout of the retail premises and knowledge of the local vicinity in which they are employed if they are to perform their duties effectively.

Our officers are trained in a wide variety of tasks across various assignments. They have integrity and are able to manage change and problems effectively and can confidently control situations as they occur whilst carrying out their duties.

All Shield Security Service Retail Officers are trained to the highest standard and are licensed by the Security Industry Authority.

Loss Prevention Officer

A Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) is employed to deter and detect theft in retail outlets. Their duties include patrolling stores in the role of an ordinary shopper, watching for shoplifters. The LPO follows any shopper behaving suspiciously, and keeps records of such observation. The key difference between a LPO and a Retail Officer is that the former’s role is covert. If they observe any individual stealing, they may arrest.

As with our Retail Officers, all Shield Security Service LPOs are trained to the highest standard and are licensed by the Security Industry Authority.

Other Security Services

Shield Security Service also offer a variety of additional security services for more general applications.

Uniformed Static Security Officers

Our Keyholding supervisors respond to any emergency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to offer you peace of mind.

Upon arrival, they execute a thorough external check of the premises and then investigate the cause of the activation. If required, we will liaise with the necessary security company to reset the system and leave the property secure.

In the event of a serious incident, such as burglary fire or flood, we will remain on site and manage the situation as required, for example liaise with the emergency services, boarding, glazing and locksmiths companies, and only leave the property once it is re-secured, or upon your instructions.
